Sprint day opened the Biathlon Canada World Junior and Youth Trials at Whistler Olympic Park, site of the Nordic events from the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games. The sprint format used three laps with prone then standing shooting and penalty loops for misses. Men and Junior Men raced 10 km. Youth Men, Women, Junior Women, and Youth Women raced 7.5 km.

Results delivered tight spreads across categories. Men: Gavin Johnston posted 26:50.9. Liam Tinworth followed in 27:17.2. Sebastian Solomonson placed third in 28:54.3. Junior Men: Luke Hulshof won in 27:04.4. Malcolm McCulloch recorded 27:43.9. Jean Nicolas De Broeck finished in 27:51.2. Youth Men: Justin Konoff won in 19:30.9. Taje Hansen stopped the clock in 19:39.2. Caelan Baine finished in 20:08.3.

Women: Quinn Morgan won in 22:11.7. Ema Chlepkova finished in 22:21.0. Alexandra Hulshof posted 23:15.7. Junior Women: Aliah Turner led in 22:12.5. Iona Cadell recorded 23:12.7. Sage Taylor finished in 23:41.2. Youth Women: Mia Rodger won in 17:58.1. Cheyenne Tirschmann finished in 18:05.2. Flora Csonka stopped the clock in 18:24.4.

The next race runs Saturday in a mass start format. Results from the sprint set seeding positions for the start grid. Athletes now adjust pacing and shooting plans for direct head to head racing.
