Grand Rapids Thunderhawks vs Thunder Bay Kings
Game 9 closed out February 13 at the 2026 Border Battle Cup with the Thunder Bay Kings U15AAA defeating the Grand Rapids Thunderhawks 6 to 3. The final game of the day began at 7:00pm EST at the Tournament Center in Thunder Bay.
Grand Rapids struck first midway through the opening period. The Kings responded with back to back goals from Cullen McCormack to take a 2 to 1 lead into the break. Thunder Bay carried that momentum into the second. Matthew Koch and Nolan Grennier found the net to extend the advantage and put the home side in control.
Grand Rapids added two goals, including a third period power play marker, but the Kings answered again. McCormack completed his hat trick late in the third, and Reid Kashak added insurance to secure the 6 to 3 win. Thunder Bay closed the night with a composed performance in front of their home crowd.
